About Nia
Nia Surman has established herself as an elite libero, excelling in both national and international competitions. A former student at Lincoln High School, she was named both Sportsperson of the Year and Sportswoman of the Year in 2022, highlighting her leadership and athletic abilities.
Her collegiate career led her to Casper College (NJCAA Division I, Region IX North), where she earned First Team NJCAA All-Academic Honors and was named to the President’s Honor Roll in 2024. She played a key role in helping her team secure a 1st-place finish in Region IX North and a 10th-place finish at NJCAA Nationals.
At the international level, Nia has been a consistent presence in New Zealand volleyball, representing the Junior Women’s Development Team at the Australian Junior Nationals (winning gold in 2022) and competing with the Volley Ferns on the Chile Tour in 2023. She also represented the NZ U20 Team at the 2024 Asian Championships.
With her strong defensive skills and leadership qualities, Nia continues to push her game to new heights while representing New Zealand at the highest level.
