About Nico
Nico Lietz has emerged as a dominant force in New Zealand volleyball, excelling as a powerful opposite hitter. A former student at Rangitoto College, he helped lead his team to a NZSS National Championship in 2021 while also securing titles in both indoor and beach IPC. His performances that year earned him the MVP award at IPC and recognition as the Volleyball Young Sportsman of the Year.
His pathway took him to the USA, where he currently competes for Long Beach State in the NCAA DI Big West Conference. While being a part of one of the top collegiate volleyball programmes, he continues to develop his game at the highest level while pursuing a degree in Marketing.
On the international stage, Nico has represented Aotearoa with the NZ Youth National Team, competing in the USA in 2019. His experience playing both locally and abroad has shaped him into a well-rounded athlete, continuously pushing the limits of his game.
With his imposing physical presence and competitive mindset, Nico remains a standout in the New Zealand volleyball community and continues to make his mark overseas.
