About Sam
Originally from Hawke’s Bay, Samuel Williams has developed into a skilled libero with a strong leadership presence. He began his journey at Taradale High School, where he won multiple awards, including Junior Volleyball MVP (2016) and Senior Volleyball MVP (2018, 2019). He was also recognised as Deputy Head Boy in 2019.
His talent earned him a spot at Adrian College (NCAA Division III, MIAA Conference), where he pursued a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Athletic Training. He served as Vice Captain in 2022 and played a crucial defensive role throughout his collegiate career.
Samuel has also represented New Zealand at the club and regional levels, competing with Hawke’s Bay IPC U17, U19, and Open Men’s teams since 2016. He was selected for the NZL Youth Development Team in 2018 and captained the AVA Hawkes team in 2024.
His journey highlights the importance of resilience and leadership in the student-athlete experience, both in New Zealand and internationally.
