About Tyler
With roots in Tonga and a passion for volleyball, Tyler Latu’ila has carved out an impressive career spanning national, collegiate, and professional levels. Growing up in Onehunga, he attended Penrose High School (One Tree Hill College), where he was awarded Dux Ludorum (Athlete of the Year) in 2011.
His early career saw him represent Aotearoa in the Junior National Men’s Team (2011 & 2012) before continuing his journey at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), where he played in the CCAA. Tyler later transitioned to professional volleyball, competing in the Greek A2 Volleyball League with A.S. Athlisi Mytilene in 2020-21 and 2022-23.
Beyond playing, Tyler has an extensive coaching résumé, including roles with Team Canada Beach Volleyball NextGen, York University Lions, the Indigenous National Team, and currently George Brown College in the capacity of Head Coach. His impact on the sport extends far beyond the court, shaping the next generation of volleyball talent through his leadership and mentorship.
